More Than Words Design Team Inspiration #January2020
I will close my eyes to old ends, and open my heart to new beginnings. (Frederickson)
Happy New Year my dear blog reader,
I wish you all the best for 2020, many happy creative and beautiful hours at your craft table,
happiness, peace, success and health.
Let's start the new year with the January challenge on the blog of More Than Words.
Here is the Link to MTW: morethanwordschallenge January 2020
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
Word Inspiration - HIGHLIGHT
Creative Challenge - SUNSET COLOURS
We want to hear about the HIGHLIGHT of your day, week, year or life!
Has there been a birthday to celebrate, a good day spent
with a friend, or simply an event that made you
happy? Maybe the birth of a child, or a wedding, is a highlight.
Maybe it's a good book or a cup of coffee.
We need to see in your project how our word inspired you.
If it isn't obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
Whatever your highlight is, we want to see it shown
off with glorious SUNSET COLOURS!
What a beautiful challenge to create with, right. I created a scrapbook-layout
with a photo of my youngest daughter Mia.
How did the word HIGHLIGHT inspire me? My youngest daughter, Mia, is a special highlight in my life... her generation will have to deal with climate changes, plastic garbage, and water shortage. She has chosen to study about water management and agriculture. She is a highlight in my life with her ideas and interest for others. I found a photo of her that was taken on one of her journeys around the world. The photo is taken at a sunset, and I think the colors fit perfectly with the mood board. For the creative challenge SUNSET COLOURS, I have stamped the background in the colors of the sunset.
Close up photos.
A short description of my creative process.
I started with adding clear Gesso from 13@rts to a scrapbook page.
My paper is from a dollar store here in The Netherlands.
After my clear Gesso was dried I stamped with different stamps
from my stash and Archival Ink from Ranger in the colors of the sunset.
After that I scribbled with a pink Posca pen and with a gray pencil.
Now, I had the feeling that I had to add more yellow because
the pink became too much focus. So I added randomly yellow acrylic with a palette-knife
to my page. The next step was adding black color to a big number stencil.
I have sprinkled in the moist black acrylic color, WOW black embossing powder.
After that I melted the embossing powder with the heat gun.
For my embellishments I used black string, a piece of paper-lace behind
my photo, pearls, Scrap Fx Australia transparency and the title Highlight.
Finishing touch black splatters. Done.
Our new rules.
A very important first change is that we will now be allowing ANY ENTRY
