Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout for the Company 13arts

 Hello my dear followers,

I am back with another page in mixed media style for the company 13arts.

This time with a page in brown and blue.

At the moment I am in love with the beautiful blue shades of the product

Color Glow. They are so rich and vibrant and the metailc shine is so delightfully

I spend a lot of time to look to my new color combination . It is so wonderful together.

I think that the Industrial Zone paper collection also go perfectly with femine scrapbook layouts.

But decide for yourself.

A little Q and A about my layout:

My photo for this page is from pixabay a free photo site.

Below you can see the amazing 3D effect which I created with a mixture of 

multipurpose gel medium, micro glass beads and color glow. I added this mixture to a stencil 

from the new Industrial Zone paper collection.

My background paper choise is a sheet also from the

Industrial Zone paper collection called Blueprint. I used for the gears chipboard from 13arts

Color glow as my color and I added a layer of clear embossing powder over the color glow.

The beautiful rust color is also Goldstone color glow and a little bit of orange rainbow color.

For the hightlights I used copper GlitterInk . My embellsihments are also from the Industrial Zone paper collection.

Mixed media scrapbook layout for the company 13arts

 Hello my dear followers,

the summer is here and I really enjoy my garden.

My lovely hubby and I have bought a big olive tree for our garden, also two orange trees and a 

solar water fountain. We love the meditarian style on our terrace and with the sound of rippling water

 it`s so relaxing.

But anyway..

For my first single post in June I created such a rainbow colour mixed media page on the Magnolia Dream paper collection.

CREATE... is my title.

 A closer look to my page:

on the photo below you can see the texture which I made with the stencil and gel medium.

I really love to add the pretty rose flowers from 13arts. They are so tiny and cute.

Behind my photo is a fussy cutting transparensy folie which I coloured with Alcohol Ink.

Alcohol Ink is also to buy in the store from 13arts.

A little ABC...about the products which I used.

1. Rainbow colours are watercolour granules and they are highly pigmented.

my favorite technique with them is: I add the rainbow colour first on my page and 

then I spray water. Of course you have to prime your paper background with clear gesso first.

The gesso protect the paper for soaking full of liquid (water or spray)

2. Stencils are perfect for adding texture to the page. In my case I added to the stencil circle of life

gel medium. Gel medium is clear after drying.

3.  I used for my mixed media layout the Magnolia Dreams and Rose in Love paper collection.

4. Glitter Acrylic Ink from 13arts is absolutley perfect for a glamour touch.

5.  Coloured chalk spray mist from 13arts is such a nice product. I offtend use this product

mostly near the end with a brush directly from the bottle. Also is this product perfect for splattering.

How long have you been creating art?.

Heike.

Actually, I've been creating all my life.

Painting, knitting, cross-stitching, sewing and and and...

I started paper crafting 2010. I started with cards, tags and mini books

Four years later 2014 I included 30cm x 30cm mixed media scrapbooking pages, art journaling and junk journaling to my creative paper work.

What is your favourite art supply or product?.

Heike.

I don't have to think long about it, black gesso or black acrylic.

What is your favourite colour palette to use?.

Heike.

Actually I am not afraid of strong colours.

But my two favourite palettes are: 1. Cadmium red, orange, ultramarine blue and a little bit of light turquoise. 

2. Pastel pink, gold, white, black and a touch of dark green.

Our very first challenge was in Jan. 2016:

a, how has your art changed since then?

b, how have you grown as an artist since then?

Heike.

I think at the beginning of my scrapbooking time I let myself be influenced a lot by trends and other crafters. Which was absolutely okay for me and I learned a lot . 

After I think a couple of years  of practicing with others style the time came when I had enough confidence in myself to spread my wings and find my own style.

As I said I started with simple cards ( a word and one stamp image on a white card) mini books where I used paper kits, no mediums.

Scrapbooking pages with one photo and a little bit watercolour.

In 2014 I started with experimenting on white background paper with stamps and stencils. This is still my favourite thing to do.

A little bit later I also dared to do mixed media backgrounds.

Today I can say I have my own style.

I still grow as an artist.

Now I am teaching scrapbooking in mixed media style in classes and online workshops.

 At the moment I design for the companies:

13arts and Scrap Fx.

What is your favourite thing about MTW challenge?.

Heike.

MTW is not only a challenge site for crafters, it is also a big community. I think MTW is the only challenge site where crafters around the world come together.

That makes MTW so beautifully unique.

BIO : 

I am Heike aka Heike 's AugenBlick

I was born and raised in Germany .

I live with my hubby Joergen in the oldest city of The Netherlands.

Together we have four grown up kids (two daughters and two boys).

One daughter in law, one son in law and three grand kids.

I am an early morning crafter that means I spend my creative hours mostly before lunchtime. My other hobbies are gardening, painting, bicycle, reading books, Tai Chi and snorkeling. Yes that is a lot, I know!!

I am a vegetarian, no fish, no meat, no alcohol.

I love 80% dark chocolate and a cup of Earl grey with almond milk. Yummy yummy!!

I like red and blue clothes and I wear always chunky jewelry.

Enchanted flower nr. 150...

I started my art journal page with lots of BOTANICALS stamp images

in green colour shades.

After that I added some numbers to my background. A little bit colour splatters also in green colour.

The next step was adding black gesso and black stamping images.

For my focale point I added a fussy cut rose and I painted a black frame for the flower.

My title " ENCHANTED Flower nr. 150" which is written with a white gel pen as finale touch.

13arts June challenge

 Hello everyone,

and welcome to the new 13arts IG June challenge.

Which comes with an amazing mood board in Industrial style.

Perfect for the Industrial Zone paper collection from 13arts.

I created an abstract looking scrapbook page.

Fussy cutting elements, stencil images, color glow and black gesso complement each other excellently on this layout.

A little pen work and my page was done.

TIP of the day...

If you mix color glow with liqued acrylic medium or gel medium the color glow powder

will be waterproof and translucent.

I added the mix with a silicon brush from 13arts to my page.
